Stop-the-world-imageEver want to stop the world and get off for a day or so? Sometimes I do. Our world’s current situation is one of great sadness. Killings, hatred, wars, threats of wars, beheadings, riots, looting, suicides, illness, it’s enough to make me want to step off for a time. But, I am part of this world like it or not. We’re killing each other, killing ourselves, and killing Mother Earth. Enough already!

If you’re religious you would say “we’re in the end times”. Others believe we can achieve total peace in the world. Lots and lots of people pray for peace. Is it possible for the world to ever have peace, total peace; the peace where no one is fighting or warring and everyone is on one accord? I’m not optimistic about that. We will always have differing opinions and people trying to shove beliefs on one another. Everyone believes that what they believe is the right way to think, live and be. That’s OK. But as soon as we start arguing about it or trying to convert one another there will be turmoil.

There is a saying in a group I am a part of, “Live and Let Live”. When I first read this quote nearly 25 years ago, I thought it was a catchy phrase. The more I read it and contemplated what it truly meant; I began to see the power in the words. “LIVE”, which means I live true to my beliefs, and “LET LIVE”, I allow others to live the same.

I can certainly voice my beliefs and my way of life to others, but once I begin to push and shove and judge, then I am aiming for a division, a fight. Why would anyone want to be like me if I am constantly shouting (or even whispering) “you’re wrong, I’m right, you’re nothing, I’m something, you’re stupid to believe how you believe and I’m smart”? I sure wouldn’t. My part is only to plant the seed. That’s it!

There may be people that will take what I’m saying out of context. That’s OK too. I am thankful and grateful to believe what I believe, it works for me. Thank you Father God, my Creator, who sent His only Son to be my Savior and had to die to do it. Yet, He lives. That’s what believe.

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I’m leaning on the Everlasting Arms
If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
….
There are miracles in life I must achieve
But first I know it starts inside of me
If I can see it, then I can be it
If I just believe it, there’s nothing to it
